Goat anti Mouse IgG1 IgG2a IgG2b IgG3 (heavy and light chains)
Catalog number: GAM/IgG(H+L)Clone | Polyclonal |
Units | 1 ml |
Host | Goat |
Background
The reactivity of the antiserum is directed to the Fc and Fab subunits of IgG. It includes a certain degree of reactivity with other immunoglobulins via the common Fab portion. In immunoelectrophoresis against mouse serum a single characteristic precipitin line with a spur is usually obtained. It does not react with any non-Ig protein in mouse serum, as tested by immunoelectrophoresis and double radial immunodiffusion. In immunoelectrophoresis and double radial immunodiffusion to identify the presence of IgG; as secondary antibody to precipitate the immunoglobulin in normal mouse serum; to prepare an immunoadsorbent for the production of Ig-free mouse serum, plasma or non-Ig preparations. This antiserum is not intended for use in non-precipitating antibody-binding or other highly sensitive assays. For such uses labelled and unlabelled cytochemical and immunoassay reagents meeting the necessary additional specificity and performance requirements are available.
Source
Purified normal IgG, including all known subclasses, isolated from pooled mouse serum. Freund’s complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure.
Product
Delipidated, heat inactivated lyophilized stable whole serum No preservative added, as it may interfere with the antibody activity. No foreign protein added. Total protein and IgG concentration in the antiserum are comparable to those of pooled goat serum. No foreign proteins added. It is reconstituted by adding 1 ml sterile distilled water.

Specificity
Precipitating polyclonal Goat antiSerum to Mouse IgG, heavy and light chains
Species Reactivity: Inter-species cross-reactivity is a normal feature of antibodies to immunoglobulins, since Ig of different species frequently share antigenic determinants. Cross-reactivity of this antiSerum has been tested in double radial immunodiffusion anti several sera with the following results: Bovine - Dog - Horse - pigeon - Sheep - Cat - Guinea Pig ± Human - Rabbit - Swine - Chicken - Hamster ± Monkey - Rat + Turkey -
Applications
Precipitation assays. In immunoelectrophoresis use 2 μl or equivalent against 120 μl antiserum. In double radial immunodiffusion (Ouchterlony) use a rosette arrangement with 10 μl antiserum in a 3 mm diameter centre well and 2 μl serum samples (neat and diluted) in 2 mm diameter peripheral wells.
Storage
The lyophilized antiserum is shipped at ambient temperature and may be stored at +4°C; prolonged storage at or below -20°C. Working dilutions are prepared by adding sterile phosphate buffered saline (PBS, pH 7.2). Repeated thawing and freezing should be avoided. Working dilutions should be stored at +4°C, not refrozen, and preferably used the same day. If a slight precipitation occurs upon storage, this should be removed by centrifugation. It will not affect the performance of the product.
