Background
The antibody is well suited for the detection of glucagon in tissue sections of brain, pancreas and stomach. Glucagon is a polypeptide which is produced by s.c. A-cells of the pancreatic islets. It is the counterpart of insulin in the regulation of blood sugar levels. Except of the pancreas, glucagon exists also in endocrine cells of the stomach and in neurons of the brain. Frequently it has been found in pancreatic tumours and in rectal carcinoids, which can be responsible for glucagonoma syndromes. Glucagon.
